The Sanford Herald Review

Cape Fear Regional Theatre, Fayetteville, North Carolina
Foltyn proves one more that he has the unerring instincts and abilities needed to mount an unforgettable spectacle
Jack Foltyn, who’s been portraying Presley since April 2000 under the blessing of Graceland, is the quintessential acrobatic, hip-wiggling, leg-shaking bomb-shell who burst on the scene in the 1950’s, fusing country and blues music into the style known as rockabilly. With is swiveling and shimmying, he’s primal energy unleashed. And, what a set of pipes he has!
“Don’t be Cruel,” “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” “Return to Sender,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight” are a few of the cherished favorites Foltyn performs with trademark moves to the audiences’ raucous cheering and spontaneous clapping. Bare-chested and sexy, his wardrobe is a peerless fashion parade. Outfits ranging from skin-tight, red bespangled bell bottoms with reptilian cowboy boots to an assortment of figure-hugging jumpsuits – beaded and fringed white silk, suggestive midnight-black, glittering gold and a shade of heavenly blue.
The closing musical tribute to America, introduced by the “2001L Space Odyssey” theme, is a stirring medley that includes “Dixie,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” How Great Thou Art,” “Softly and Tenderly” and “America.” Loving it with unrestrained enthusiasm the audience finally goes totally wild when the King of Rock ’n’ Roll launches into his record-breaking rendition of “Hound Dog.
It will thrill longtime fans and garner a whole new generation of Elvis’ aficionados.

Finishing a Season with The Unauthorized Rolling Stones Tribute and Jack Foltyn
Story and photo by Kay Crow
The following Friday, September 11, Jack Foltyn officially closed the Theatre with his Elvis Tribute. When Jack sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” couples in the audience got up and swayed to the beautifully sung ballad. Other Elvis songs that Foltyn performed included: “Love Me Tender” and “That’s All Right, Mama“. A major highlight of the evening was when Jack sang a special 9/11 tribute that included “God Bless America” and asked the audience to join in. He gave it all he had, typical Foltyn style. More than that, Foltyn is expanding his repertoire. Not only can he sing and move like “THE KING”, his appearance is softened and at the end of this show, he changed into his jeans and white shirt and sang other artists’ songs, like an Otis Redding favorite, Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire”, Little Richard’s 1955 hit “Tutti Frutti”, and the Beatles “Get Back”. This new side of Foltyn that many have not seen before is very refreshing and invigorating. Jack Foltyn is more than an Elvis tribute; he is a true performer and entertainer!
